sunshine and shasta lilies

even here in the middle-of-almost-nowhere sunday's are quieter than other days. i love that...

sunshine on jimmie's 'coffee table'...

the first shasta lily bloom of the year. ahhhhh...

the ground at the base of this lily... you can see two dead stalks from past years, and the soil-- how dry and virtually free of humus it is. yet these lilies thrive in this soil. little patches of them scattered throughout the woods. this impresses me...

the scent is intoxicating. as long as they're blooming the evening air will be filled with their perfume.

and in a different direction, prayer flags fluttering in the breeze. must get more prayer flags on our next trip to mt. shasta... impossible to have too many, right?
