harriet ~ watercolors, gouache and oil pastels on old paper

taking these pics outside in direct sun makes them appear brighter and harsher than they really are. harriet's a little softer in real life...

those bits of light brown/tan on the inside corners of her eyes are raw sienna. that and raw umber have become two of my favorite colors. her eyebrows and hair are raw umber.

getting ready to cut out a card... as you can see, i'm gluing the bits of paper to pages from 'the merry men'.

  2. Lynne, i love your "barely there" touches. For instance the raw sienna in the corner of her eyes and the delineation of her hair on the forehead.. Btw, I too love those 2 colors (in acrylics too!)

  3. she is exquisite! I think she might be a desperate housewife though I've never seen the show!! she has that look of desperation in her beautiful eyes. And yes her dress is gorgeous, perhaps it makes me think of house dresses. Do you remember those. My mother used to wear "house dresses"

  5. She reminds me of Garbo, a serious, "leave me alone kind of" mood. Are you making a deck out of the rumi cards? Do you cover the back of the card and leave the poetry on the front? Neat stuff, dear Lynne, neat stuff.

  6. Is Harriet a little bit sad? It really makes fun to look at all these new works. Do you make a desk of "Lynne Cards"? Wish you good vibes further on ...

  8. thanks for the photo of your process... i thought that was how you were doing it... and I have avoided it due to the uneveness of the papers collaged together, you make it look so easy... and it is true about sunlight...xox

  9. Ah Lynne, I love the softness of lunette and harriet. They have a real retro 50s aura about them that's incredibly appealing. And your use of layers! Fabulous!

  16. hi lynne, i love Harriet she looks to me like a woman scorned , i also love reading what the others see, it makes for an interesting experience like being in an art gallery and exchanging views...and most times the artist had another mood in mind..
