'jeanette' ~ strip of cloth, watercolors, colored pencil, casein paint, gouache and oil pastels in 'the merry men'

she could well be worried about her hairdo, or trying to remember the name of that salon she heard about last week...

while i was working on her, i was thinking that i could just name all of my paintings "in my own world", ha ha...

  4. She does look a bit self-absorbed, Lynne (I laugh)! The floral background sets her pensive face off beautifully.
Cheers from the road to denver, sus

  7. I'm fascinated by your faces. I study each one, looking at their expressions, the minimal shading, the soft colors. Very nice.

  9. Love her - love the addition of the cloth - she looks - to me - as if she's just seen a younger woman make an entrance to the party wearing that same 'cloth.'
Love your world too & the faces that inhabit it - thanks for sharing

  10. I thought, What a lovely wrap on her head. So for me, she has a scarf wrapped around her head, and it's beautiful.
    Perception...eh?

  15. I love your world! It's a great place to hang out it.

I think Jeanette is from SoCal in the 40's maybe 50's. I'm thinking she gets' that "do" with those little pink sponge rollers. I think she's really wondering if the neighbours are noticing that she has a little drink of something stronger than coffee in her cup in the afternoon. So many little secrets.... so much ruminating over them!
