blowing kisses

truth teller with yellow hair ~ watercolor, gouache, & oil pastel, chartreuse journal, 4" x 6"

and staying quiet in the blog world, for now, at least...

i've done so much, seen so much since my last post. a month in virginia with family and friends, and last week, five days in salem, oregon. the little chartreuse book is almost full! soooo many things that i could write about, but one that i want to mention for sure is the traveling picasso exhibit that opens in san francisco on june 11. i saw it at the virginia museum of fine arts in richmond, and it touched me to the core. i've never considered myself a huge picasso fan, but to be in the presence of his work, of the work of someone who was compelled to paint every day, moved me more than i could ever have imagined. if you're an obsessive painter/drawer, go see it if you can...

if you're stopping by for the first time because you've seen my stuff here or here, welcome! please feel free to ask questions - i'll be happy to answer them!

to everyone, i send my love!

I paint the way some people write their autobiography. The paintings, finished or not, are the pages from my diary.

  5. Hi Lynne, So happy to see you back. I got to see a traveling Masters show a few years ago. I actually teared-up seeing pieces I had only seen in books. Amazing stuff.
Love your 'truth-teller' - bet there are some more treasures in your little chartreuse book :-)

  7. You are back! Yay! I'm absolutely thrilled for all the recognition you are getting! Can't wait to get my hands on the book :0)

The older I get, the more I appreciate the sheer creativity of people like Picasso, too. I hope the exhibit comes this way. It's so powerful to see great art in person - I'll never forget seeing my first Georgia O'Keeffe or Chagall. I could have crawled into the paintings, I was that moved. :0)

Blowing kisses right back at you and the lovely Truth Teller!

  10. I love how life works. I was just thinking yesterday that I missed you and your energy in blogland, and here you come to give me what was missing. Love that. I even used a Picasso quote on my blog this week too - must have been feeling you...
“The world today doesn't make sense,
so why should I paint pictures that do?”
    – Pablo Picasso

Glad to know that life, love and art are filling you up these days, Gorgeous One.

  11. I googled the Picasso exhibit the last day of its life in Virginia. Was going to trudge my buns up there to see it....was disappointed it was moving on.

good to see your "little feet" up and about and out there.

  12. Hey, Lynne-y! Good to 'hear' your voice and see a new face from your world. My favorite quote from Picasso (who has always been a God in my pantheon): 'If it's good, it's art. If it's not, who cares?'
Sail on, sweet one. Love, sus

I followed your links. Your new book collaboration looks wonderful. Are you in this issue of the magazine? Perhaps I will have to go look and see next time I am in town. Congratulations on both. Also, wonderful to see a new piece of art from you.
    Blowing you kisses.

  18. I am glad you enjoyed your break-it sounds like a lovely time! I hope you still blog sometimes as you are now-but have lots of breaks too!
I love Picasso-and have seen a few Picasso museums and exhibits over the years. I love all his sculptures with found objects, his pottery is brilliant too. My favourite quote is a Picasso quote(and when I say favourite I mean it-but also one of the few I can remember!)-"If you know exactly what you are going to do, what is the point of doing it?" I know that sometimes things need to be planned, but my favourite part about art are the accidents and surprises, and the way ideas stem from anywhere and everywhere unbidden.
I am looking forward to seeing more from your chartreuse journal-what a beautiful word chartreuse is-though hard to spell!

  19. I was viewing your art on today's post when I scrolled back down to this one. The Picasso photo caught my eye in a different way. Those croissants look like fat fingers spread across the table in front of him.

Did you ever notice this before?
