watercolors in stillman and birn 'delta', 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"

i think this'll be my last post for a few weeks...  my sister's coming from virginia for three weeks, and while we don't have a definite plan (my go-with-the-flow is prevailing over her must-have-itinerary  ; ), we've got ideas about all kinds of places to go and things to see...   or maybe we'll just hang out here the whole time!

thank you to those who've written asking if we're safe from the fires.  we're safe...   the closest fire is about 50 miles away,  it's just really smoky.  when the fires (everywhere, not just in california!) come to mind i visualize them calming right down...   it beats feeling helpless.     if you live in california and want a good site for keeping up with current wildfires, check out the cal fire (CDF) blog.  there's a lot of info there.

okay, see you in a few...

    Glad you are safe from the fires. I hate that smokey smell - had fires all around when I lived in Florida (1998).

  10. Have a wonderful time with your sister. I just got a few days in with mine while I was on vacation too. I come to realize more and more as I age what a part of my soul she completes with her presence especially when we were teaming up with caring for the folks this trip.
    I must have channeled you when I picked up a flat rock on our shoreline in Maine. I would very much like to paint something as evocative as the faces you share with us. Meanwhile it will serve as a talisman for potential I guess!

  14. Wishing you a sweet and enjoyable time with your sister. It's good to sit back once and awhile and just 'be' to those around you, rather than trying to splinter the time you have into a bunch of tiny shards; allow yourself to sink in hours upon hours and answer only to whatever, wherever you heart takes you both. That's bliss...a slice of heaven in your own backyard.

  23. Lynne I've missed you while I was away...your wonderful drawings and paintings, your beautiful words, all that you share with us. So nice to be back and reading through your posts.
    Ah ha.... you have your sister coming to visit. Sounds a lot like Lee and I when we get together/travel. I am quite happy to fly by the seat of my pants, see what evolves each day. Lee always needs a plan, has an itinerary (I think I frustrate her terribly) ....but its a good mix. I allow her to lead the way and she is becoming a bit more flexible. Fun travelling together though.
    We saw some of Picasso's work when we were in Barcelona. Boy did I love that city. Picasso, Gaudi, Miro...they are all amazing. I was especially in awe of Gaudi...what an amazing artist/architect/mathematician/man.

    Enjoy your time with your sister Lynne.

  25. Lynne,

    Hope you are having a glorious time!
    I worry so about the fires;
    yesteray coming home just a few blocks from our house, a man threw out a 'live' cigarette, and its so dry here, it rolled over the road headed for the grass and my husband put it out, but I could't believe my eyes! But now today they have predicted rain for the first time in months. Hope you get some soon too.
    xx
